Now I can see

"I had this pain in my eyes; I was going blind,” a Hindu woman told her friends in a Faith Comes By Hearing group in India. “The doctors said I needed an operation. It would

cost 15,000 rupees—about two years’ wages! ‘If you don’t, you’ll go blind,’ they said. But that was an impossible amount.”

She was desperate.

Then she was invited to join the listening group, and things changed. “Whenever I was with the group, the pain went away, but afterwards it returned. So gradually I began to believe in Jesus Christ.”

She was gripped by the stories, unable to separate

herself from the action. She became part of it, as if she was there. “One day, as we were listening, Jesus walked past a blind man,” she explains. “The blind man started crying out, ‘Jesus, have mercy!’ and I cried out too, ‘Jesus,

have mercy!’ The others told me to be quiet but the blind man started shouting louder, ‘Jesus, have mercy!’ so I shouted too. Then Jesus called me, so they said, ‘Go on, he’s calling you!’ so I went to him.

'What do you want?’ Jesus asked.

'I want to be healed,’ I said.

'Do you believe I can do this?’

'Yes, Lord, I do!’

"Then my eyes started hurting again and I cried out, Whenever I come here, the pain goes away. Now I’m asking for healing, why has it come back?’

I didn’t realise it, but at that very moment, Jesus was healing me!

"Now I can see. Now I believe in Jesus. I’ve got rid of all my household gods. I’ve been baptised—and my husband too!”
