Bagwere
A brand new Bible translation project
About 300,000 Bagwere live in Eastern Uganda and survive by subsistence farming. They speak Lugwere, which is the medium of instruction for the first four years of primary school but, as there are no books or instructional materials in this language, those who learn to read must do so in English.
While many Bagwere claim to be Christian only a small percentage are actually born again and trying to live a Christian life, the remainder mix their faith with the traditional religion.
Two Bagwere nationals have the desire and have been trained to translate the New Testament into Lugwere so that "God will not be just a Sunday visitor."
