Traditionally Wycliffe UK has sent out workers from our own country, funded by churches and individual supporters.
We still do - and just over a third of the world's languages now have at least some scriptures - but about 3000 languages are without a single Bible verse.
Meanwhile, many Christians in the developing world have also caught the vision but with scarce resources and many other areas of need it may be a long time before their own Churches can fully shoulder the financial burden of training and supporting their own people.
