What to give to
Supporting an individual from the UK
Most people working with Wycliffe UK don't receive a salary. Instead, they depend on a team of people to support them and out of what they receive they pass on 10% of their income to help support admin costs both in the UK and overseas.
The financial support which members require depends on such factors as the cost of living in their assigned country, work related expenses and number of dependents. Members need to have the full amount promised before they can take up their assignment.
By helping support a Wycliffe UK member you become a vital partner in spreading God's word. We want you to be informed and the Wycliffe member you support will provide you with ongoing information about their work.
You can support a Wycliffe UK member financially by giving to Wycliffe UK and including a note that your gift is for a particular member.
Helping UK Members on low support
Sometimes financial support doesn't come as expected and the Wycliffe UK member is left with a shortfall. To help cover such gaps, Wycliffe UK has a fund known as the Supplementary Fund. Each month, the money in this fund is distributed to members whose financial support has fallen below a set proportion of their cost of living requirements. This fund is not a long-term solution. It is a safeguard, allowing members to keep on with their work until other people are found to join their support team.
You can contribute to the Supplementary Fund by giving to Wycliffe UK and including a note that your gift is for the fund.
Supporting a project
Across the world, projects need funding. More and more nationals are involved in translation, literacy work, and a wide range of administrative and support roles. It can be difficult to raise support locally.
You can make a real difference to a project by giving through Wycliffe UK, through the Vision 2025 fund, or through the Blank Book initiative.
Supporting an individual from overseas
Highly able people in Africa, Asia and Latin America are ready to be involved in Bible translation but need financial support. Help match the funds they receive from their sending churches.
If you or your church would like to consider supporting such individuals, you may be interested in the Vision 2025 Hand in Hands initiative.
