Words for Life - The Wycliffe Magazine
Following an audacious vision - 10 years of Vision 2025 (2009/3)
Back in the spring of 1999, I remember sitting in a large conference hall with hundreds of delegates from all round the world discussing whether it would be possible to start a language project in every language that needed it by 2025. It isn't easy for a multi-national organisation with thousands of members working all over the globe to change, but as the Wycliffe leadership discussed and prayed, we sensed God speaking to us and Vision 2025 was born.
This edition of Words for Life reflects on what has happened over the past decade, and on how partner organisations are involved in what God is doing through Bible translation. It also highlights ways in which people in the UK have been stretched in their walk with God through visiting Bible translation in Asia and Africa, and presents some challenges for those who support Vision 2025 whilst based in the UK.
Ten years ago, Wycliffe faced the huge challenge of Vision 2025: I hope you don't mind me passing a bit of the challenge on to you.
