Papua New Guinea honours translation workers
The Directors of PNG branch were honoured in PNG New Year's Honours List. Brian and Val Hodgkin from Christchurch, Nottingham, UK were appointed "Honorary Members of the Order of Logohu".
Other translation workers were also honoured in this the 50th anniversary year of work in PNG. Over 200 New Testaments have been published in that time and work continues in over 100 languages. PNG has over 800 languages.
The PNG Government established its own honours and awards system after Independence. The honours system is known as the Order of Logohu, the motuan term for the Bird of Paradise, the nation's official emblem.
