Who we are
Mark (from the UK) and Laura (from the US) met in East Africa and have been married for five years.
Where we are
We are living in Tanzania, serving a new Bible translation project with four language communities in Katavi Region.
What we do
We are living and working in the town of Mpanda in Tanzania's Katavi Region, working alongside local church leaders and supporting them as they start the work of Bible translation and literacy with the Bende, Tongwe, Rungwa and Pimbwe peoples.
12 years ago our colleagues in Tanzania surveyed parts of Katavi Region to determine the need for Bible translation. During the research trip they met one man, Pastor Kasanda, who was particularly enthusiastic about translating the Bible into the local language of his people so that they could know God better. Since that time Pastor Kasanda has written on several occasions to our colleagues asking when they will come to help him start translating the Bible. Finally, in August 2010, our colleagues were able to meet with church leaders in the region, and together these leaders of various church denominations began the translation project in August 2011.
Our prayer is that we would follow Jesus faithfully as we aim to serve these Tanzanian church leaders and translators in the long and often difficult task of Bible translation, and that they would be able to make God known to their communities in their own languages for the first time!
