Who I am
I was born in London and have since lived in the Midlands, Manchester, Switzerland and Chad. Before joining Wycliffe, I was a Maths teacher.
Where I am
I am in Chad for 3 months of the year. The rest of the time I am based at the Wycliffe Centre near High Wycombe.
What I do
In Chad, I’m a linguistics consultant, working with language teams who don't have a written form of their language. We figure out the best way to write it so that literacy and translation can advance.
I was previously involved in the team that translated the Kera New Testament. It is a joy to see how the Kera are now enjoying reading it and working towards translating the Old Testament.
In the UK, I'm a linguistics coordinator. I send out linguistics newsletters, encourage linguistics students, do research, attend conferences, teach and discuss priorities in linguistics and training. I want us to do the best linguistics we can to support the communities we work in and to ensure that all our translation work has a good linguistic basis.
