Sarah recently spent a week doing work experience in our UK office. We asked her about her time with us...

  • What made you decide to come to Wycliffe for work experience?

My mum works here, so I already knew about it. The work here seems really interesting and it’s nice to get experience of working in an office, because that’s applicable to other areas and other companies.

  • What have you enjoyed most about your week with Wycliffe?

I’ve enjoyed working with different teams and learning how they work differently. [Going to the annual] Vision Day was fun, it was nice meeting new people and hearing stories, hearing how they work and how their life is so different to mine.

  • What have you learned about Wycliffe’s work that you didn’t know before?

It’s just much bigger than what I thought it was. I didn’t realise there were so many languages in the world. Everything’s much bigger than I thought it would be, the extent of what needs to be done is just massive.

  • Would you ever consider working for Wycliffe in another country?

I’m quite a fussy person, quite a picky eater. I think the cultural difference would be a big thing, but if it was a European country I could probably survive! Hearing people’s stories made it seem like a possibility. If I can survive the cultural differences, it might work!

  • Would you recommend other people come to Wycliffe for work experience?

Yes, I would. I had a lot of fun, and everyone was really nice and welcoming. I don’t know what I was expecting, but I wasn’t expecting this, and I had a lot more fun than I thought I would.
