Experience God’s heart for Bible translation

Experience is for those aged 18–30 from across Europe looking to learn, grow and hear from God as they consider a role in Bible translation. We’ll study God’s desire for all people to know him and share some of the incredible ways God is accomplishing his plans through Bible translation.

What should I expect?

Experience takes the form either of a two-week interactive webinar with morning and evening sessions (28 June–9 July 2021), or an in-person camp held this time on the shores of Lake Geneva in Switzerland (17–28 July 2021, Covid-19 permitting). The camp in Switzerland will be fully bilingual (English-French), with all sessions interpreted on the go to give a real cross-cultural experience. You only need to be fluent in one of the languages to take part, but there will be plenty of opportunity to practice the other as we go along!

Learning from the Book of Acts

In both camps we will begin each morning learning about the mission of God through the book of Acts. This time of fellowship will be followed by teaching sessions where we’ll open your eyes to the life-changing work of Bible translation. We’ll focus on different aspects of the work over the two weeks, to build a picture of what it takes to make God’s word truly accessible to everyone..

In the afternoons there will be optional supplementary reading and activities for those who wish to take things further on the online camp, as well as drop-in sessions with staff to discuss your burning questions! If you join us in Switzerland, the afternoons will be free time with plenty of opportunity to explore the area, process what we’ve been learning together or relax in the sun.

Then through the evening sessions you’ll hear personal stories and get to talk with a range of Wycliffe workers as they share how God has used them to bring God’s word to language communities around the world.

Part-retreat and part-holiday, there really is nothing quite like Experience and for many people it is a life-changing time. If you feel the need to take some time out to think through cross-cultural mission and God’s call on your life, we’d love to have you join us.

Please note: due to the nature of the programme, we will be capping numbers at 20 on both camps. In order to build a sense of community during the virtual ‘camp’ we ask that people commit to the whole fortnight, rather than dipping in and out.
