Come with us on a journey to the Aru Islands in eastern Indonesia, a 7-day prayer journey for the Dobel and Kola people.
These are just two of the 17 language groups found in the Aru Islands.
This prayer journey will lead you through different aspects of Bible translation, helping you to pray more specifically. May you be inspired as you hear more about what God is doing.
Jock and Katy Hughes first went to Indonesia in 1984, serving with Wycliffe, and sought to partner with local people to begin the work of writing down the Dobel language and then translating the Bible. The aim is to have the New Testament completed and printed by 2023 and your prayers are such an important support towards this goal.
A local partner organisation has been working on the translation of the Kola Bible. They have five New Testament books and some other portions of Scripture.
Let’s pray for the completion of these translations, but also that God would speak his truth into the lives of the Dobel and Kola people through the Bible as they engage with it.
The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. (James 5:16b)
