Who we are

Mark (from the UK) and Laura (from the US) met in East Africa and have been married since 2007.

Where we are

We live in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where we are working at the main office of SIL International's Uganda-Tanzania Branch. We are currently settling in to life in the big city, having previously lived in the more remote Katavi Region, in western Tanzania.

What we do

Mark is supervising three Bible translation and literacy projects in the centre and west of Tanzania, covering 20 language communities. These projects are at various stages, with some communities taking the initial steps of creating a written alphabet for their language, and others preparing to publish the New Testament in the next couple of years.

At the same time Laura is serving our international colleagues working throughout Uganda and Tanzania as they face the stresses of working in cross-cultural teams, supporting them in the diverse challenges of their life and work.

Our prayer is that we would follow Jesus faithfully as we aim to serve these Tanzanian church leaders and translators in the long and often difficult task of Bible translation, and that they would be able to make God known to their communities in their own languages for the first time!
