IllumiNations is a collaborative grouping of the leading Bible translation agencies, working together with the shared vision of eradicating Bible poverty.

The movement began in the USA with the aim that within the next 15–20 years:

  • 95% of the world’s population has access to a full Bible.
  • 99.9% of the world’s population has access to a New Testament.
  • 100% of the world’s population has access to at least a portion of Scripture.
  • 100 of the world’s most strategic written languages will be available in two viable translations.

The illumiNations alliance in Europe includes:

  • Bible Society Northern Ireland
  • Biblica
  • Scottish Bible Society
  • The Word for the World
  • Wycliffe Bible Translators

The first European illumiNations event was held at Gleneagles in May 2022; it was absolutely inspiring and has given us great confidence in recommending the next event at the Fairmont Windsor from 11–14 May 2023.

At illumiNations the key agencies working in Bible translation come together to celebrate all that God has done, and all that God will do, in and through Bible translation.

James Poole, Executive Director of Wycliffe Bible Translators, will be there along with other agency directors. There will be an opportunity to make a financial pledge towards Bible translation, with a minimum expectation of a five-figure sum.

There is likely to be a waiting list this year, so we’ve been asked to make this clear to potential guests to ensure that those coming are intending to contribute to this vital cause.

What they have found in the USA is that a community of Bible-loving investors grows year on year, with the time when there could be some scripture in all languages now in sight. We are confident illumiNations will inspire you about the transforming effect of Bible translation on marginalised communities.
